Falls from heights are a serious occupational safety challenge that most workers face everyday. A majority of the falls happen from roofs and ladders. It has been listed as one of the leading causes of traumatic work related death and it accounts to 8% of all occupational fatalities.

Falls are such dangerous occupational hazards because you cannot recognize the danger beforehand, unlike other work hazards. It is the most frequent cause of fatalities, especially in the construction industry, and accounts for one of every three deaths in the industry.

To identify fall hazards and to decide what measures will be best to protect workers is vital for reducing or eliminating fall hazards. This can be achieved only through proper training.

OSHA has mandated the protection of workers and the agency has set up the Fall Protection Standard 29 CFR 1026 which the workers have to comply with.

The fall protection programs are provided under the OSHA safety training provided by many safety training schools. This OSHA compliance training program is provided as a guide to assist workers in complying with the requirements of the fall protection standards and to provide them with the information when they are off the ground.

Every worker who is exposed or likely to be involved in fall hazards at the workplace must attain the fall protection training to reduce these hazards.
